The application first takes you through a short and uneventful setup process, but before you can enjoy all it has to offer you need to make sure that .NET Framework is already on your computer, because it’s a mandatory requirement for functionality.A large text pad shows up on launch, with no input buttons in plain sight. This is because the application isn’t quite your average calculator, and relies on a different type of input. You still rely on numbers and operators, but the entire expression needs to be written down for things to work out. There’s also an example to quickly get you up and running.

Good, but far from being a pro

Unlike most calculator, this one gives you the possibility to open existing files with operations already written down. These need to be under the TXT format, to which you can also save history of operations. On the other hand, you can simply select everything in the text pad, copy it, and paste wherever needed.Unfortunately, you’re only able to basic operations like adding, subtracting, multiplying, dividing, and power, with no other documentation to help out. The text pad supports text input as well, which comes in handy for adding details related to operations. However, you need to figure out what symbols are used as operators, but this isn’t much of a hassle, because these don’t rely on text expressions.

To sum it up, Desargues is a neat alternative to any calculator you might be using, considering you don’t have to perform calculus for complex expressions. The writing method is intuitive enough, despite the lack of documentation, and you can also save results to file, or import an existing sheet of expressions.
