RAM Medic : Release RAM to allocate it to other programs, run RAM auto-optimization, view memory usage history, and terminate active processes
RAM Medic is an application designed to free up memory to boost your computer's performance and allocate more RAM to running programs. It features automatic optimization tasks, a process manager, and advanced options for experienced PC users.
RAM optimizer for older Windows
Before proceeding any further, you should know that the tool hasn't been updated for a long time and it's no longer fully compatible with newer Windows editions. It still works on older OSes, though, such as Windows XP. Administrative privileges are necessary.
View usage info and release RAM
It's wrapped in a user-friendly interface made from a window split into multiple areas, dedicated to releasing RAM, managing active processes, and advanced features. You can check out a graph with the RAM usage history, free and used RAM, along with the amount of megabytes recovered. After setting the targeted free RAM by adjusting a slider, uou can click a button to optimize the PC. This task may take a while, depending on your machine's configuration and can be canceled if it takes unusually long.
Configure settings and manage processes
By default, RAM Medic automatically runs at every system startup until told otherwise. It's also possible to hide the optimization progress, disable the tool from clearing the Clipboard on optimization, as well as change the frequency for graph updates and auto-optimization, together with the alarm level for freeing RAM.The built-in process manager is not very different from Task Manager. The application shows the process name, ID and priority level for each program running at the moment, giving you the possibility to easily change the priority of a selected process, or to terminate it.
Evaluation and conclusion
The utility supports keyboard shortcuts, runs in the systray, and contains advanced, yet approachable options dedicated to RAM optimization. Unfortunately, it hasn't received updates for a pretty long time and doesn't work on modern Windows.
