Hide My Files is an application which allows you to hide your private data. It is ideal the moment you share your computer with multiple users, since it grants you a certain level of security.Upon initialization you are required to set a password that will be inputted every time you access the executable file of the program.The interface of the software is based on a plain and simple window in which you can use the treeview to locate the folders that you want to hide.Once you press the "Lock" button, Hide My Files will automatically make the respective folder invisible. So, it doesn't actually encrypt it with a password.If you want to unlock a folder, simply press the correspondent button and it will instantly reveal itself.Unfortunately, you cannot view a list of the folders that you have locked, so you will have to look for them the traditional way - by exploring your computer. However, they have a long code written (similar to a file extension), so you should be able to easily spot them. Plus, a very big disadvantage of Hide My Files is the fact that you cannot lock multiple folders at once.In addition, we had expected to be able to lock files as well, since this is what the title of the software implies (we find this somewhat misleading). Also, we weren't able to change the password of the tool on Windows 7, since Hide My Files seems to have some compatibility issues with this operating system (it works fine on XP, though).The application runs on a very low amount of system resources and displays a brief guide below the treeview for novices. Its response time is very good and we haven't come across any major issues. Make sure to unlock all folders before uninstalling Hide My Files. Otherwise, they will be automatically deleted.
