In depth
A closer look at Genie
The name Genie stands for Genealogy Interval Explorer. Genie was developed to be a program for the inference of demographic history from reconstructed molecular phylogenies. It is primarily designed for the analysis of phylogenies reconstructed from highly variable viral gene sequences, but can be applied to other types of sequence data that contains a significant amount of phylogenetic information. GENIE has a new command-line user interface that is similar to that the interface used by PAUP and MrBayes. GENIE commands can either be typed in one at a time, or put together into a file that is then run as a script.
