Windows depends on a bunch of different processes and services in order to properly function, but so does everything you install and run on your computer. This is exactly the reason applications like Advanced Process Manipulation got created, providing not only an alternative task management option, but also more functions to work with.

Lightweight and easy to use

A neat advantage is that you don’t even have to go through a setup process to make the application work. As a consequence, your computer’s health status remains intact since registries are not modified. In addition, you can easily leave it stored on an USB flash drive and use it from there any time you need advanced task management.In terms of visuals, the application sports a pretty clean look, with a classic window style housing all features. A center panel is used to enlist all active processes, while another lets you view all corresponding modules. Primary options to stop, suspend, or close handlers are triggered from the context menu, but more functions are found in the upper toolbar.

Leaves more to be desired

Unfortunately, the application hasn’t been updated in almost a decade now, and although it runs on recent Windows installments, it’s set of features is a bit outdated and can’t recognize all running processes. This has a major impact on practicality, not to mention that the default and modern task manager can do a lot more.On the other hand, you can still use it to load custom dynamic libraries for analysis, map existing computer ports, get command line for a specific process, and close different handlers. Moreover, you can launch a compact memory stats viewer, but it only shows RAM info. Ironically enough, there’s a specific option to launch the Windows Task Manager in case you need more help.

Bottom line is that not everyone needs or is able to mess around with system processes and services, because closing the wrong one can damage your system until next boot, which means any data is lost. Unfortunately, Advanced Process Manipulation isn’t as advanced as the name suggests, coming with a shallow set of features and an outdated overall functionality.
