The software suite consists of a database and a set of client software. The client software is used to register work effort, using an electronic time sheet, and to run reports from the database. The extensive report system provides company and project managers with an overview on how the company’s work effort is distributed among projects and employees.
Visual TM can provide project managers with actual resource loading figures to their project planning systems, such as Microsoft Project or Scitor Project Scheduler. It also provides company managers with a tool for optimizing the utilization of employees. The ActiveX DCOM based architecture allows users to access the system across local as well as remote networks, including modem or ISDN lines.
The system consists of four main sections: a company tree structure showing the relationship between departments, projects, resources, tasks and work types; a drag-and-drop based time registration section; a tabular report section showing reports in tabular, spreadsheet-like form; and an extensive graphical report system including pie, bar, strata, and Manhattan (3-axis) graphs. The graphs are color-coded and may have a 2D or 3D appearance.
