Overview

What is SetYear?

allows you to fix the Y2K bug in the BIOS (real-time clock) of old computers.

In depth

A closer look at SetYear

SetYear consists of three separate utilities. SETYEAR.COM is the DOS version, which you can include in your AUTOEXEC.BAT with the command SETYEAR 2000.

SYEAR32.EXE is the 32-bit version for Windows 9x and NT, which you can include in your StartUp folder.

Finally, SYEAR32C.EXE is the 32-bit console application for Windows 9x and NT, which you can include in your AUTOEXEC.BAT.

Each year you have to modify the parameter. In the year 2000, you simply use "SETYEAR 2000", in the year 2001, you use "SETYEAR 2001", and so on.

All three programs simply correct the date in the System Clock. They have no influence on how your applications display the date, for which you may need separate updates.
