Overview

What is WinCooler?

allows you to detect when your operating system is idle, and call your CPU's HLT (halt) command to put the CPU into low power mode.

In depth

A closer look at WinCooler

This CPU cooling method has been built into x86 microprocessors since the advent of the 486.

While cooler CPUs last longer, a higher CPU temperature results in internal degradation in the form of electromigration, and reduces the conductivity of internal interconnects, causing operation timing errors.

The program can run as a convenient icon in the System Tray area of the Windows taskbar.
