improves the maintainability of an application by reformatting the source code into a readable and consistent format.
FormatVB is useful in ensuring a consistent format within a developmental group and when dealing with code written by others. It can process about 1,000 lines of code per second.
FormatVB has extensive formatting capabilities. It reformats WinAPI declares, event declares, function and sub headers, dim statements, public and private variables, comments, and more. It also inserts blank lines at strategic locations, and removes excess blank lines between code blocks. Reformatting is done in-place, with no output filename required. User preferences are stored in an INI file. Command line options are optional, and override the INI options.
FormatVB provides for automatic creation of backup files, and automatic creation of a restore file that allows an easy return to the state just prior to executing FormatVB. It also let you process entire projects, project groups, specific files, or classes of files with one command.
FormatVB works with Visual Basic, VBScript and Visual Basic for Applications (VBA). This program is a Win32 console application, and requires no install procedure.
