eliminates a vulnerability in Windows Media Services which could allow the denial of service attacks against a streaming media server.
This is a denial of service vulnerability which could allow a malicious user to crash a streaming media multicast service. The service could be put back into operation by restarting the Windows Media Unicast Service.
The vulnerability would not allow the malicious user to usurp any administrative control over the machine, or access any data on it. However, any streaming media sessions that were in effect at the time of the attack would be interrupted.
The update eliminates the vulnerability by providing more stringent protocol checking to deny invalid requests.
