If you are finetuning an existing schedule, you may want to input that schedule into the spreadsheet, and save it as the base case. You can then make changes to reflect your current needs.
If you are preparing a new schedule from scratch, you could look at the "Step-By-Step Sheet" where you can find detailed instructions and some example rotations for eight- and ten-hour shifts.
Once prepared, a schedule can be used from year-to-year with minimal additional effort.
In addition, the program enables you to account for vacation periods, and can display coverage charts.
