Blender supports curves, polygon meshes, text, NURBS, and metaballs. Animations can be created using keyframes, morphing, motion curves, and inverse kinematics (IK). Other features of Blender include: a 3D view with rotoscoping, a choice of lighting modes, animation curves and motion paths, deformation lattices, particle systems, skeletons, field rendering, and vertex key framing for morphing.

Blender supports TGA, JPG, Iris, SGI movie, and IFF file formats. It can also read Inventor files.
