Overview

What is MCIShow?

is a script-driven multimedia presentation system.

In depth

A closer look at MCIShow

The program plays MCI files (multimedia control scripts) via the standard Windows Media Control Interface. You can combine various multimedia events in an MCI script with control events, programming logic and subroutines to create an interesting slideshow. Supported multimedia formats include BMP images, WAV and MID audio files, CD audio, and AVI video files)

During playback, MCIShow reads and plays each event in the script sequentially by event number. It can perform several events simultaneously (for instance, MIDI and CD events can overlap sequences of BMP, WAV, AVI, "Clear," and "Pause" events). You can have a CD track augment a WAV file, a MIDI song play during a sequence of BMP pictures, and more.

Although the list of features goes on, MCIShow is a presentation system only. It does not edit MCI slideshow scripts or multimedia files. The program comes with several sample MCI files that demonstrate how scripts can control multimedia events. You can use these as starting points to write your own slideshow scripts.
