Your goal is to eat all the apples while avoiding stones, the fence, the walls, and your own tail. It's easier to negotiate the twists and turns when you're short and starving, but with each apple you eat your length and speed increases. The difficulty increases with each level, as the number of apples increases, new obstacles are introduced, and the game board is reduced. You can also eat bonuses, which can be useful or harmful, as well as mushrooms.

The game has two modes: compain and training for beginners. It also includes options that let you change the start level, and adjust the difficulty of the training game by selecting the number of stones and apples.

Hungry Snake 2 features colorful graphics and a high score list.
