The program lets you send and receive messages between different operating systems, including Mac OS, Windows 9x, Windows NT and 2000, Windows 3.11, and Linux.

You can send messages to an individual user or to a whole workgroup; automatically find which users are available on the network; use the text-to-speech feature where incoming messages are spoken for you; and switch to chat mode for interactive communication.

MacPopUp also includes the ability to attach files by dragging and dropping them onto the Send window.

The program runs as a convenient icon in the System Tray area of the Windows taskbar.
