Overview

What is HTMSTRIP?

strips out embedded tags from HTML pages downloaded from the Web.

In depth

A closer look at HTMSTRIP

It converts documents to clean ASCII text. HTMSTRIP.EXE is ideal for cleaning up Web pages before sending them as e-mail, or importing web pages into word processors, spreadsheets, and databases. Because HTMSTRIP.EXE is DOS-based and works from the command-line, you can convert entire directories or files that match a certain specification.

The program also converts standard HTML "entity references" so that, for example, © becomes "(c)". A utility is also included which renames the files in your Netscape cache subdirectory so you can identify them more easily.
