In depth

A closer look at MP3Enc

MP3Enc can convert AIFF, AIFF-C, WAV/RIFF and raw PCM data files into WAV and MPEG Layer 3 (MP3) files. You can adjust the bit rate, sampling rate, encoder bandwidth, and encoder quality. Data can be piped through STDIN and STDOUT, allowing for live encoding (or "streaming"). Stereo sound can be downmixed to mono.

(MP3Enc was formerly called L3Enc and L3Dec)
