lets you compare all of the costs associated with installing and operating any home heating, venting and air conditioning (HVAC) systems.
It was developed as a sales tool, but it can be used by anyone who wishes to compare the costs of two new systems, or the comparison of your current unit with a new, more efficient unit. CostWorks calculates a simple payback schedule to show you the amount of time it would take for a unit to "pay for itself" in energy savings over another less efficient unit.
The program takes into account various factors, including climate, house loads, cost of fuel, unit efficiency, and other factors to come up with the correct answer. It comes with a database of heating and cooling load hours for over 200 U.S. cities. You simply enter the house heating and cooling loads, cost of fuel(s), unit efficiencies, and unit costs.
