IPLookup : Determine the IP address of your computer, server, or a web page by running a series of tests which rely on predefined, or custom rules
Every computer connected to a network or the Internet is equipped with a unique address, known as the IP. Revealing it for your computer doesn’t require much effort, and there are also specialized online services to help in this regard. Needless to say that applications can do a good job as well, and a suitable example is IPLookup.
Predefined or custom services to determine IP
First of all, the application saves you the whole effort of pressing a few next buttons to get it deployed, because it’s not packed inside an installer. As such, you can carry it around on a thumb drive in case you want or need to use it on other computers. Registry entries are not modified to ensure functionality. The application is specialized in letting you reveal your own IP address. This might not seem as an important task, but it can be pretty helpful in the case of servers, or computers with dynamic IP addresses. An active Internet connection here greatly comes in handy, with the program coming with several predefined location to provide results.
Save gathered details to log files
Several tabs let you easily access the variety of methods to find out your IP. This can mean using an external service, user-defined service, as well as some extra tools like testing URLs, connecting to FTP servers, sending e-mail, setting system check interval, or capture the address and saving it to file.User-defined services make it possible to use a custom URL as the source of information, with additional authentication fields in case the specific service is restricted to its own users. Unfortunately, you can’t work with specific addresses to return their IP, but the other way around. In other words, testing URLs requires you to already know the specific address, after which the corresponding URL is returned as result.
In conclusion
Taking everything into consideration, we can state that IPLookup isn’t your average home tool for identifying your own IP address, but rather a means of determining it for larger services, such as servers, specific web pages, or PCs with dynamic IP addresses.
