In depth

A closer look at NetToolset

NetToolset consists of a versatile collection of utilities intended for network administrators. This carefully selected set of tools will help diagnose the most common issues for specific domains and IP addresses.

An all-in-one domain and IP scanner

NetToolset includes a few simple utilities that work independently from one another, despite being part of the same package. Operations such as ping, traceroute, DNS lookup, reverse DNS, IP and domain WhoIs, as well as port scanning can be carried out from a central administration panel.

Tabbed interface with clear options

NetToolset relies on a simple, yet intuitive interface that presents all of its options upfront. The tabbed approach organizes the collection of utilities in a smart manner, allowing the audience to quickly identify the tool needed for a certain task. Also, the tabs function independently, therefore the components work individually and cannot share information amongst one another. Each utility has a separate export function that saves the generated reports to an output location, of your choice.

A short summary of the toolset

All of the included utilities can work with multiple hosts and IPs, which can be specified by hand or imported from a text file. With the Ping tool, you can measure response times, while the Traceroute++ provides a tracert function combined with a ping feature in order to pinpoint issues with network utilization. You can use the WhoIs utility when you want to track down an IP or a domain and the Blacklist Lookup to query host names against a series of blacklist servers. Last, but not least, the Port scanner can be used to verify which ports are open on a domain for further testing.

A favorable verdict

All aspects considered, NetToolset comes across as a good asset that can help network administrators to identify domain downtimes in order to make the necessary improvements. Multiple hosts and IPs can be analyzed at the same time, therefore comparisons between responses intervals are made possible.
