Wood Workshop : Create highly customized pictures based on wood textures with this application that allows you to export your projects to JPG and PNG formats
The software is built around a tabbed interface that allows users to work with multiple textures at the same time. Each tab controls a different stage of the process, allowing users to backtrack their work in order to fine-tune settings. A few menu items are available, however all essential functions can be accessed from only the tabs.
Multiple wood designs are available as a starting point for new textures
Wood Workshop ships with multiple predefined wood patterns, which serve as great building blocks for future projects. There are three categories from which one can choose source models, “Uncut Wood”, “Wood Boards” and “Wood Patterns”. Within each section, there are multiple items, including popular choices, such as African Ebony or Mahogany boards.Textures are generated in a three-step method, the first being already mentioned in the previous paragraph. The second stage requires adjusting the model with custom effects. There are many options for users to play with, including shade and rings or grooves effects. Each effect can be adjusted in its own right, which makes the output files highly customized.
Large preview frames allow users to check their progress at each step
The last step in generating a wood texture is rendering the file. Wood Workshop is superbly able to perform this task and no third-party program is required. One of the great features of this application is that users retain complete control over the entire process.Large preview panels of each of the three processing steps allow users to identify shortcomings and make the necessary corrections. If the rendering is on par with users' needs, one can export the document to several common image formats, including PNGs, JPGs and BMPs.
The program can generate highly customized wood patterns from simple source designs
Summing up, Wood Workshop can be a great tool for carpenters and other professionals working with wood, as it allows one to simulate changes to the design of wood pieces.
