Photo Editor is a tiny and portable image editor that comes packed with several preset filters when it comes to photo adjustments. It does not include customization settings, making the app ideal for users with little or no experience in such software.

Portability perks

Since there is no installation involved, you can drop the executable file in any part of the hard disk and just click it to run.There is also the possibility to save Photo Editor to a USB flash disk or similar storage device, to be able to run it on any PC with minimum effort and no previous installers.What's more, the program does not create new entries in the Windows registry or Start menu. However, it creates temporary files with unsaved images.

As far as the GUI is concerned, Photo Editor comprises a single window that provides direct access to all main options. A new picture can be opened with the help of the file browser only, since the drag-and-drop method is unsupported. The list of supported formats includes GIF, JPG and BMP.

So, it it possible to crop the picture by making a selection, adjust the contrast, saturation and desaturation levels, apply a sharp, smooth, despeckle or greyscale filter, as well as to undo the last action or restore the image to its default state. The picture can be saved with the click of a button.

On the other hand, Photo Editor comes with plenty of downsides. For example, users should be careful when working with images, since the app does not offer to save changes to a new file, but it overwrites the original one instead. Additionally, it is not possible to tweak settings for any of the filters, so users have to rely on Photo Editor's automatic adjustments.

The tool is undemanding when it comes to CPU and RAM, so it does not affect the PC's overall performance. We have not come across any issues throughout our evaluation, since the app did not hang, crash or pop up error messages. All in all, Photo Editor comes packed with some useful image tweaks which should be particularly appealing to inexperienced users.
