Split Boss is a simple to use tool which allows you to easily split and merge files, regardless of their type or extension. The application is a suitable solution for transferring large files, when classic methods cannot be applied, for instance, the large size is not supported or the migration takes too long.

Quick file splitting process

Split Boss allows you to split a particular file in two or more segments, based on the required size for transfer. For instance if the maximum file size that you can attach is 1MB and your item is 4.5 MB, you may easily split it into 5 segments and send them in turn.The process is highly effective if the recipient also has Split Boss installed, since they can easily load the received folder and instantly piece the file back together. The application features two splitting options, namely cut the file in its original state or compress it before splitting it.

Detecting file size

Once you load a file for separating segments, Split Boss can automatically detect its size in Kilobytes. Moreover, you may also specify the desired size for each segment in Kilobytes, keeping in mind that 1MB is equivalent to 1024 KB.The program can calculate the total number of files that result pending the splitting, based on the specified size of a segment. If the result of the mathematical division is not integer, the last file created might be smaller than the specified size. The resulting files are saved in .TMP format and depending on their original type, you may or may not open them.

Split notifications and file merging

In order to activate the file merging option, you need to click the button at the bottom of the window, Merge Files. Split Boss can only combine the segments of the files you previously split, thus restoring the original item to its state. It can detect and display the total number of files in the selected folder, as well as calculate the size of the resulting item.
