Developed in Python, WindowsInfo is a simple application that shows a couple of details related to your operating system's configuration. For example, you can find out for how long your computer has been turned on, as well as recover the Windows product key if you have lost or misplaced it, in order to prepare for a reinstallation.

View and export system information

The interface is made from a small window that doesn't put emphasis on graphical elements, where the OS information is autodetected and displayed at startup.You can check out the operating system's name and alias, product key, source of installation (e.g. OEM media), uptime (in days, hours and minutes), along with the name of the owner and currently logged on user.These details can be exported to a plain text document by indicating the output directory and filename. There are no other noteworthy options available here.

No installation involved

There is no setup kit involved, which makes WindowsInfo portable. You can save the downloaded files to a custom directory on the disk or copy them to a removable storage unit, in order to seamlessly run it on any machine with minimum effort and no previous setup. It doesn't make changes to the system registry or create files on the disk without your permission. To remove the app, you simly have to delete the files.

Evaluation and conclusion

It didn't put a strain on the computer's performance in our tests, thanks to the fact that it needed a low amount of CPU and RAM to work properly. Everything worked smoothly in our evaluation, since no error dialogs popped up and the tool didn't hang or crash. On the other hand, WindowsInfo provides you with just a small piece of information about the operating system.
