WASD Vision : Open-source application that provides streamers with a customizable keyboard and mouse overlay, allowing them to show their audience which actions they are performing in real-time
It can be difficult for viewers to keep up with what streamers are doing when playing fast-paced games, which is why many broadcasters choose to display a keyboard and mouse overlay on their streams.WASD Vision is a relatively simple, open-source application that provides streamers with a minimalistic overlay that can be customized to a certain extent. What’s more, it allows you to hide certain words when they are typed, such as e-mail addresses and passwords.
Show key and button presses to your audience while streaming
What the application does is pretty simple – once launched, an overlay will be displayed on your desktop, on top of all other windows, which shows the left side of your keyboard and your mouse. When you press one of the available keys or mouse buttons, this action will be highlighted on the screen, thus enabling you audience to keep track of what you are doing. In addition to keys and the main mouse buttons, the program also shows mouse wheel actions and side button presses.
Offers a fair number of visual customization options
There are a few presets you can choose from when configuring the application, namely WASD, QWER and ESDF. You can also create a custom layout, but the size of the overlay cannot be modified.Additionally, you can choose from a total of 8 color presets, which should be suitable for most streamers. However, it would have helped if you had the option of creating custom colors.
Hide words that you don’t want your audience to see
Of course, streamers may sometimes need to type things like account names, e-mail addresses or passwords, which viewers should obviously not see.Thankfully, the application allows you to create a list of words that will be hidden. Once you start typing them, the overlay will be paused for 30 seconds. This is a very useful feature, but it would have been great if the duration could be customized or the overlay could be restarted with a hotkey.Overall, WASD Vision is a very useful application for streamers who wish to display keyboard and mouse input during their broadcasts. It could use a few more customization options, but it is a well-designed piece of software.
