Glacia Browser 1.0.0.1

Glacia Browser : Simple web browser with a basic AI assistant that asks your name and how you're feeling, offering to perform online searches on your behalf

Glacia Browser is a web browser with a twist: besides navigating the web, it has an AI assistant that you can interact with. It asks you a couple of questions and offers to perform online searches on your behalf. It's simple to install the program as long as you already have .NET Framework on your PC, thanks to the fact that setup requires minimal user interaction.

Minimalistic web browser with an AI assistant

The interface is unpolished, making Glacia Browser difficult to work with. This can be best observed in the AI assistant area, which overlaps the loaded page. As far as functionality is concerned, it's pretty suggestive that the project is in experimental phase, feeling like a stripped down web browser that doesn't have any other navigational controls than the "Go" button (pressing Enter doesn't perform the search, for instance).Moving on to the AI assistant, the key feature of Glacia Browser, it gets activated when clicking anywhere inside the frame. Each message is delivered in a separate popup box, which cannot be skipped or canceled. After the conversation starts with a greeting, Glacia asks you to enter your name (which is then used in all following popup messages).Next, it inquires about your well-being, offers to tell you the current date and time, then offers to make an Internet search by simply copying and pasting the text from the popup box to the search box in the main window.

AI assistant without the artificial intelligence

During our tests, a quick investigation has shown than the AI assistant doesn't actually possess true AI capabilities. Although it has a database with ready replies for your answers (suggested in the answer box), it cannot remember anything by connecting information from one question to another (besides remembering your name).Furthermore, hitting the "Cancel" button doesn't actually cancel the assistant but obligates you to go through all steps until you reach the end. Answering "Yes" when asked to perform a web search should bring a new dialog with the search term but the application performs the search on "Yes" instead (or on "No" if you decide you don't want to do this). This is just one example of faulty behavior.Taking everything into account, Glacia Browser is clearly in incipient form and requires heavy development to be able to grab the user's attention, especially since it's an ambitious project looking for true AI enhancements.
