Unfortunately retired with the advent of Windows 8, these fun widgets allowed users to enjoy a variety of content without having to open pages in Internet browsers or install applications onto their PCs.For those who love listening to online radio stations and are still on one of the above-mentioned iterations of Microsoft's proprietary operating system, there is a nice enhancement still available that brings music closer to you.Called XRadio Gadget, it comes with a neat interface that resembles an old cassette tape and features some easy to use controls. Just like a regular player, the widget features a set of controls specific to this kind of utility: play, stop, forward and rewind.You should note that the latter function will actually switch back to the last station you selected, instead of rewinding the songs. There are some buttons for adjusting the volume of the music and the animation of the rolling tape makes for a groovy effect that intensifies the pleasant experience of using this desktop widget.With XRadio Gadget you can easily see what station you are currently connected to because the name is inscribed on the white label that is 'sticked' to the cassette tape's side. The quality of the sound stream is quite decent and should please the ears of the listener, if they are not too pretentious.Overall, the whole feel of this nice enhancement is what will surely make it highly appreciated by any users that take it for a spin. With a cool looking interface and easy to use controls XRadio Gadget should still remain a hit in its software category.
