In depth

A closer look at Wingeom

Wingeom is a lightweight Windows application built specifically for helping you create 2D and 3D designs in a clean working environment.Since this a portable program, it is important to mention that it doesn’t leave any traces in the Windows Registry. You can copy it on any USB flash drive or other devices, and take it with you whenever you need to design objects on the fly.It sports a straightforward layout that allows users to start a new design from scratch, import data from WG3 file format, and export the drawings to the following file format: EPS, SVG, BMP, or other formats as well. The application gives you the possibility to set up the coordinate parameters, insert various objects (e.g. spheres, cones, cylinders, hemispheres), duplicate objects, and rotate the components to different angles. What’s more, you can undo or redo your actions, record macros, zoom in or out of the working environment, and select the background color.Other important features worth mentioning are represented by the possibility to set up passwords and add details about the author, date, email, and homepage, as well as calculate the volume of a convex polyhedron.Last but not least, you can use hotkeys for performing various operations, print or copy to the Clipboard the generated drawings, and change the color for the measurement units and coordinate axes.During our testing we have noticed that the tool carries out a task very quickly, offers very good image quality, and no errors showed up throughout the entire process. It manages to remain light on the system resources, so it doesn’t hamper system performance, nor interfere with other programs’ functionality. All things considered, Wingeom comes packed with a decent pack of features but the layout is not intuitive, and rookies may spend some time trying to configure the dedicated parameters.
