xComputer : See how computers carry out language instructions
xComputer was developed as a simple model computer that manages to investigate how a computer operates in a fetch-and-execute cycle to carry out machine language instructions stored in its memory. xComputer is written in the Java programming language. The xComputer consists of a Central Processing Unit (CPU) and a main memory that holds 1024 sixteen-bit binary numbers. The CPU contains an Arithmetic-Logic Unit (ALU) for performing basic arithmetic and logical computations.
