WinRoute provides transparent network access for all standard TCP and UDP applications. Connection to the Internet may be through a dial-up line, leased line, or another network adapter. Supported protocols and applications include HTTP, HTTPS, Gopher, FTP, POP3, SMTP, Telnet, RealAudio, DNS, Finger, Talk, ICQ, H.323, PPTP, IPX over IP, ICA WinFrame, IRC, SSH, SNMP, TFTP, ICMP, Ping, Traceroute, Whois UUCP over IP, and Whois.
Other features include satellite connection support and automated TCP/IP configuration. It also provides support for Net2Phone Internet telephony, allowing multiple users to place Net2Phone Internet calls from behind a firewall or proxy at the same time.
