XMetaL allows you to access any ODBC (Open DataBase Connectivity) data source; save and reuse queries; automatically convert database content to XML; drag and drop text, images, and URLs; use keyboard macros and shortcuts; and preview your XML documents.
The program includes a spell checker and a thesaurus, support for Cascading Style Sheets (CSS) as well as CALS (Computer-aided Acquisition and Logistics Support) and HTML 4.0 tables, real-time rule checking, and a built-in scripting host for JavaScript and VBScript.
XMetaL also features a built-in editor for creating custom dialog boxes; searching and printing capabilities; support for HTML and SGML documents as well as GIF, JPG, and PNG images; and the ability to insert annotations.
