is a visual IDE for building C++ applications.
The user interface is a cross between that of Corel Draw and Visual Basic.
A "Project Explorer" on the left of the screen scans the source code and clearly shows all properties, methods and functions defined in the program. The Code editor on the right of the screen supports syntax highlighting and member auto-listing and it comes with complete quick help for Win32 API functions.
Octopod offers windowed and windowless ActiveX support (with a container comparable to the one in Visual Basic) and support for OLE and ActiveX servers and clients. It offers GNU compiler support, the ability to import projects and user interface layouts from Microsoft Visual C++ and Visual Basic, and support for ADO/DAO databases. Applications created with Octopod are small, compact and independent of DLLs.
A CodeToolbox allows developer to drag a code snippet (small piece of source code) from the special toolbox directly into the code (thus emulating the visual way of creating the user interface). The snippet is then written into the source code
Several samples are included in the download.
