FLock takes only a few system resourses and doesn't load the processor, because it doesn't participate in input-output operations. Existing analogs such as Device Lock are made as services and accordingly they are permanently in the memory and distract the processor.
FLock additional features include: the ability to protect drives, CD-ROMs, and ports; support for remote administration; a separate permissions setting on listening to audio CD and reading of CD data; and the ability to block a CD-ROM tray that is unaccessible for a user.
