A closer look at NameIt
Coming up with different ideas for passwords, or names can be a little frustrating if done too often. However, if there’s no time to plan it through, there are tons of specialized applications out there just like NameIt which comes with a couple of built-in generators, and the possibility to create your own for specific purposes. With the application installed, running it brings you one step closer to your new password, or judging by the preset generators, a name for a song. The compact main window lets you select the generator to use, with music, and password as the two default ones. At the press of a button, a new item is generated and automatically sent to clipboard. Although there are no configuration options for the password, such as length, or type of characters to use, you can configure this by creating your own types of generators. This is done by expanding the main window to show management options, configuring generator rules, and adding the item to the list. There’s no actual limit to the number of generators to create, and these are easily selected from a drop-down menu.
