A closer look at From Scratch
The program's interface looks like a three-ring binder. You can enter an unlimited number of recipes and ingredients per recipe. For each recipe you can track recipe name, ingredients, directions, keywords, number of servings, time to prepare, recipe origin, and in-depth nutrition information. Ingredient quantities are automatically adjusted based on the number of servings. You can print recipes, and search for a recipe based on recipe name, ingredients, keywords, origin, time to prepare, instructions, notes, or nutrition information.
It also includes a shopping list manager and a measurement unit conversion function. Files are dBase compatible and can be imported from any ASCII file and many other recipe programs. From Scratch also includes a Web helper program that works with the author's Web site to provide access to over 10,000 recipes.
