Not all characters in the game are enemies, some are friends, which help you out with additional ammo or fire support. Weapons like sniper rifles, flame throwers, chainsaws, smoke grenades, and pulse cannons will guarantee you have at least a fighting chance to complete your objectives successfully. But you can't carry infinite stuff, if your inventory is full, drop unneeded weapons or ammo to be able to pick up other things.
