Quake II has a stronger plot and drastic graphic improvements over Quake. In this version Earth is at war with an alien race. We have been beaten down for years, and now it's time to launch a counterstrike against the aliens' planet. Unfortunately, the alien race has a large planetary defense system that prevents us from sending in any large attack ships. Our strategy is to send in thousands of one-man pods in the desperate hope that some will get through. As your pod crashes onto the planet your adventure begins.

Quake II features all new monsters, weapons, and levels; better lighting effects; more animations for the monsters; spectacular special effects; and overall enhanced graphics. The game also includes story-driven missions, that let you go back and forth between levels (even if you haven't finished a level).

This official Quake II demo includes single player, deathmatch, and co-operative gameplay.
