The game is quite clearly a real-time strategy game, but it focuses on the wizard that you control, and in this sense it has a role playing element.

You play the role of a novice wizard who has ended up in an unusually primitive Celtic world dominated by magic and ruled by baron wizards. You have to fight your way through many regions gathering magic items for new spells so that you can ultimately find your way back home. The essence of the gameplay is the ability to use over 40 different spells in the game, and to work out the most powerful combinations for particular situations.

The name of this game in Europe is "Magic and Mayhem".
