Der True Type Symbol Font Marvosym.TTF ist eine Sammlung all jener Zeichen und Symbole, die ich unter Windows immer gesucht und in keiner Schriftart gefunden habe - zum Beispiel das Entsprichtzeichen aus dem Mathematikunterricht.Wieso eigentlich gibt es in in jeder Symbolsammlung zwanzigtausend verschiedene Pfeile und Schneeflocken, aber nicht ein einziges Anrufbeantwortersymbol? Weshalb fehlt im Mathe-Font das "Entspricht"-Zeichen? Warum soll ich mir ein neues Office-Paket kaufen, nur weil ich ein Euro-Symbol brauche? Was ist mit statischen Kraft- und Auflagersymbolen? Das waren genug Gründe, endlich einen frei verfügbaren Symbolfont zu veröffentlichen. Mittlerweile feiert das Projekt seinen zehnten Geburtstag und wird immer noch weiterentwickelt. Der 1995 in seiner ersten Version veröffentlichte True Type Symbol Font Marvosym.TTF ist eine Sammlung all jener Zeichen und Symbole, die man unter Windows immer wieder sucht und in kaum einer Schriftart findet. Marvosym.ttf enthält das originale Eurosymbol, das Entsprichtzeichen aus dem Mathematikunterricht, Symbole für Handy, Fax, Anrufbeantworter, Kaffeetasse, Scheren- und Schneidliniensymbole, technische und wissenschaftliche Symbole, Stahlprofile, Laserstrahl, Symbole für männlich und weiblich, ein CE-Prüfzeichen, ein Rollstuhlsymbol und noch viel mehr. Alles in einem einzigen 40-kB-Download und alles kostenlos. Für Anwender, die sich nicht mit der manuellen Installation bemühen wollen, gibt es auf www.marvosym.de ein Installationsprogramm, das alles automatisch erledigt und auch gleich eine Anleitung zur Benutzung im Startmenü installiert.
