A closer look at X-Wing vs. TIE Fighter

It offers a choice of original mission scenarios set in a variety of familiar Star Wars environments. You have nine Rebel and Imperial starfighters at your disposal, from which you can engage each other in assorted deep space dogfights. Mission roles encompass everything from convoy escort and reconnaissance to heavy assault strikes and space superiority dogfighting.

Prior to each new mission in multiplayer mode, you decide whether you want to fly for the Rebellion or the Empire. The multiplayer mode supports 8 players on IPX or TCP/IP LAN, 4 players via 28.8Kbps or faster connection to the Internet, and 2 players via 14.4Kbps or faster modem.

X-Wing vs. TIE Fighter features a fully upgraded version of the graphic engine used in previous X-Wing and TIE Fighter games. The engine uses new texture-mapped models, with ship details taken directly from the Star Wars archives at Lucasfilm.
