Web Crossing supports discussion groups, bulletin boards, newsgroups, e-mail list mirroring, and real-time chatting in the context of a customizable Web application server. It can be used for online communities, e-commerce, and customer service applications.
The program integrates with Legacy, enterprise-class databases; supports an unlimited number of simultaneous users (limited only by your platform); and includes distributed and mirrored server capabilities.
You can select between threaded and linear discussions, include HTML code in your messages, use the built-in search engine, archive your messages automatically, display user pictures, attach files to discussions within a conference, and track and view messages posted by each user.
Web Crossing also includes profanity and keyword filtering capabilities; Web-based e-mail for users, with an address book, support for attachments, and multiple user-configurable folders; support for bookmarks and e-mail notification of new postings; remote administration and logging capabilities; the ability to analyze and create reports; multiple templates with the ability to customize colors, graphics, text, frames, buttons, and banners; and SSL (Secure Socket Layer) support over TCP/IP connections.
